Why We Need a Research and Evidence Facility (REF)
At Movement in Refuge (MiR), we believe sport isn’t extracurricular—it’s essential. But in the world of humanitarian response, it’s often treated as an afterthought. Too many sports programs for displaced youth are short-term, under-resourced, and poorly safeguarded. Even when well-intentioned, they can be culturally mismatched or lack sustainable design.
The result? A growing movement with far too little evidence behind it.
That’s where MiR’s Research and Evidence Facility (REF) comes in. REF is our commitment to understanding what works, where, and why—so that we can design better programs, advocate more effectively, and contribute to a global shift in how youth well-being is supported in crisis contexts.
